Microporous Employees Give Back

Microporous has seen tremendous growth and prosperity, and it’s nice to know that employees are being generous in return. Several examples of this can be seen inside and outside the plant.

Internally, many employees have donated and raised funds through potluck lunches in order to help fund a dream vacation for a long-term co-worker who has been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. Other funds have been donated to help a family who took in a small child they are trying to adopt. It’s a tragic situation where the grandparents had custody, but sadly the grandmother died from brain cancer, leaving few options. The family is trying to adopt the child rather than see it go back to foster care.

Externally, Microporous is a good steward in our local community. Donations are made to the Mary Hughes Angel Tree, Piney Flats Volunteer Fire Department, Piney Flats Community Chest, Shriner Circus, local colleges and schools, and Theatre Bristol.

Microporous is also a good steward to the environment. Evidence is in the new office paper-recycling program and installation of energy-saving lighting with auto shut-off controls to conserve energy. Microporous also has an ongoing energy study to find other ways to save energy.

Microporous will soon host an Open House event to showcase recent changes in the facility and to celebrate the company’s accomplishments with family and friends.
