15 May 2016 Microporous™ Invites Community to Open House Event
(Piney Flats, Tenn.)—Many in the Tri-Cities may not realize that there is an internationally known business tucked away in Piney Flats, Tenn. But there is. And after making a million-dollar investment in plant improvements that has brought it to the cutting edge in a very technical industry, Microporous™ , a leading developer and manufacturer of separators for lead acid batteries, is proud show off its continued growth. The company is inviting the community to an Open House event on Saturday, May 14 at the plant.
The event will include plant tours, a carnival-type atmosphere for the families, food, entertainment and games.
Company president Jean-Luc Koch says since being reestablished as an independent company two years ago the company has devoted itself to improvements in research and development, the plant’s facilities in the company overall.
“We’ve invested about a million and a half dollars in both infrastructure and machinery to not only improve our products and processes, but to provide a cleaner, more comfortable working environment for our employees,” says Koch.
Capital investments in equipment include a Flex-Sil Accumulator and Defect Marking System. The accumulator was installed primarily for safety reasons. The Defect Marking System will help insure a quality product to the customers.
Other projects include a vacuum lift to get rid of manually lifting of boxes, a #4 finishing machine and a Vulcanize Recirculation Pump.
Remodeled areas for employees include the employee cafeteria/break room, locker rooms with showers, and a training room large enough to accommodate company events and employee meetings where technology can be better utilized.
The company’s office area is now more open for better efficiency, collaboration and creativity for members of the leadership team.
The public and media are invited to see the improvements and hear how Microporous is investing in the area and its employees at this special Open House event.
The Open House will begin at 10am with plant tours starting at 10:30. The plant location is 596 Industrial Park Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686. The media is invited to stay for lunch, catered by Firehouse Restaurant at 12:30.
