Jean-Luc Koch, President and CEO of Microporous, took the helm in 2013. He has held previous positions as Director of Sales, Corporate Project Director, and VP of Global Operations, Procurement & Engineering, which has given him critical insight into all aspects of the business within the battery separator industry.
Jean-Luc is a strong believer in leading by example and tries to motivate every department and team member to bring new ideas for improvement and growth. His engagement has been integral in the consistent and record-breaking growth that Microporous has enjoyed in his years as CEO. He recognizes his key asset in developing a successful plan for the future of Microporous is based on building the greatest team he can and then focusing on developing those team members into global leaders in the industry.
Under Jean-Luc’s leadership, Microporous has seen extensive team growth, adding new positions to help direct the management and quality of all product operations—as well as an all-new research and development department that will continue to secure and enhance Microporous’s position as a leader in its markets.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Technology of Nancy – France and a master’s degree in international sales of industrial products and services from the Business School of Mulhouse-France.
Ed Feaster has led Microporous in the position of CFO since January 2015. His work has been critical to the success and positive growth of the company. Ed has over 22 years of experience in CFO roles with significant M&A, business development, and international general management accountability.
Ed is a licensed CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting and Finance from Indiana University.
Jim Franklin joined Microporous in early June, 2018. He previously worked as Chief Operating Officer for a leading pharmaceutical packaging manufacturer. He appreciates the power of employee motivation, empowerment, and engagement when coupled with clear manufacturing goals. With over 32 years of global operations experience, Jim’s keen insights into efficient operations management will enhance Microporous’ continual success.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University (Illinois).
David joined Microporous in late January, 2018. He previously worked as Chief Technology Officer for a leading battery manufacturer. David has over 30 years of experience with battery technology. His in-depth knowledge of battery technology has given him an excellent reputation in the industry. Microporous’ R&D department will continue to strive for product innovation.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Engineering from Surrey University, UK.
Roger Calloway has worked as the Site Manager at the Piney Flats, TN facility since 2014. Prior to that, he was the North American Operations Manager for another battery separator manufacturer for nearly 14 years. His keen insights into efficient facility management have been integral to Microporous’ success.
Roger holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration from Indiana University at Bloomington.
Johann (“Hans”) Schabauer joined Microporous in early April 2017. He previously worked in the automotive industry for a leading Austrian subcontractor to premium German and British brand car OEMs for almost 10 years in product development, testing, program management and engineering. His last position before joining Microporous was as the Director of Engineering for Fuel Systems.
Hans holds a Master of Chemistry (MChem) degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Photochemistry from Swansea University, Wales.
Antonio Abriola has served Microporous as Director of Engineering since early 2014. He leads all engineering functions globally and contributes to the continual growth plan of the company with his multi-disciplinary educational background and his 25+ years of widespread experience in the Battery Separator Industry. Prior to working for Microporous, Antonio ran a technical consultancy firm for six years and led engineering and manufacturing teams in leading battery separator manufacturing facilities in Italy, France and Asia for 17 years.
Antonio speaks four languages and holds a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering and Industrial Automation from ITIS and UNINA IT University in Italy.
Jeff became a member of the Microporous team as Product Development Manager in 2017. Prior to his work with Microporous, he was Managing Director at United Membrane Technology Group LLC for over three years. He was also New Product Development Manager at Polypore International for over 12 years.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Sciences (BS) degree in Chemistry from University of Pittsburgh.
George holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin where he specialized in electrochemistry under to leadership of Professor Allen J. Bard. For the past 35 years he has been involved in all facets of battery development with several major corporations including Johnson Controls (PbA batteries) and Corus (now Tata) Special Strip Steel (alkaline battery containers). He has introduced new products in several different industries and holds more than a dozen patents. As Manager of R&D at Microporous, LLC he is focused on the development of new separator technology for lead-acid batteries based on rubber and rubber / polyethylene materials.
Claudia Lorenzini has joined Microporous Austria in late 2015. She has started her career in the battery industry in early 1996 with world-wide responsibility for the sales of different types of battery separators for the company Jungfer. After 2005 she continued working for Daramic based in Italy being accountable for several important key accounts in Eastern and Western Europe as well as in Middle East. Claudia is responsible to develop, drive and execute Microporous’ strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve the targeted growth objectives and expand market share in EMEA and Asia Pacific. She is the “voice of the customer” working actively on new product development together with the technical team making sure that we remain a customer centric organization following the needs of the market and growing the business together with our customers.
Claudia speaks three languages and is well known in the market and connected with many battery experts and decision makers around the Globe.
Arnie Gillert joined Microporous in March of 2016 after spending 16 years with a US based Motion Control supplier. Prior to joining Microporous, Arnie gained experience in a variety of roles including sales, sales management, product management, and operations. He will be responsible for executing strategic sales plans to grow the North and South American markets while continuing to expand and drive essential marketing initiatives at Microporous. His passionate approach to customer service and company culture will help Microporous continue to thrive in the future.
Arnie holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering but enjoys the productive development process.
