Microporous operates two world-class manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Europe. In 2026, a third facility will launch in Danville, Virginia, dedicated to coated lithium-ion battery separators. Together, these facilities will have the capacity to produce approximately 630 million to 1.25 billion m²/year of coated lithium-ion battery separators and 130 million m²/year of lead-acid battery separators, respectively.
PINEY FLATS, TENNESSEE
Since being built in 1971, our Piney Flats plant manufactures and distributes quality lead-acid battery separators and is the only facility in the world making rubber separators.
Beginning Q1, 2025, Microporous will begin to manufacture our first ultra-thin, wet process PE coated lithium-ion battery separators in this facility.
This facility is ISO 9001 certified.
FEISTRITZ, AUSTRIA
Built in 2008, our Feistritz facility has continued to focus on manufacturing world-class lead-acid battery separators.
The Feistritz facility’s emission and utility consumption rates are unmatched in the industry.
This plant is well-located near key European customers with convenient access to serve Asian and African markets.
